About Us

Downtown Johnstown, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the revitalization and preservation of the Downtown district of Johnstown, Ohio. We are comprised of neighborhood residents, business and property owners, and representatives from non-profit and faith-based organizations.

Our mission is to foster a spirit of community pride, to strengthen, to revitalize and promote the downtown area as a vibrant place to visit, work, shop, play, live, and invest while improving the appearance of the downtown and promoting Johnstown’s unique historic character.

Johnstown is located about 25 miles from the state capital of Columbus, Ohio on State Route 37 and 62. Our downtown is fortunate to have a town hall/opera house and village square called Bigelow Park, that is surrounded by historic turn-of-the-century style commercial buildings.

Downtown Johnstown has regular meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 6PM. Meetings are held at the Johnstown Village Council Chambers at 599 South Main Street, Johnstown, Ohio.

Design Committee
Meetings: Third Tuesday at 6 PM @ Johnstown Village Offices.
Mission: Involves improving the downtown’s image by improving its physical appearance – not just the appearance of buildings, but also of street lights, window displays, parking areas, signs, sidewalks, streetscapes, landscaping, promotional materials and all other elements that convey a visual message about what the downtown is and what it has to offer.

EconomicRestructuring Committee
Meetings: Second Tuesday at 6 PM @ Hot Spot Coffee Shop
Mission: Involves strengthening the existing economic base of the downtown while diversifying it. Economic Restructuring activities include helping existing downtown businesses expand, recruiting new businesses, providing a balanced mix, converting unused space into productive property, and sharpening the competitiveness of downtown merchants.

Organization Committee
Meetings: Fourth Thursday @ 1PM at the Hot Spot Coffee Shop.
Mission: Involves increasing membership through recruitment, providing structure to the Downtown Johnstown, Inc. organization, and communication to members, as well as the local business people, residents and visitors.

Promotion Committee
Meetings: Second Wednesday @ 6PM at 128 S. Main St. (K-Ceps).
Mission: Involves marketing the downtown’s unique characteristics to shoppers, investors, new businesses, tourists, and others. Effective promotion creates a positive image of the downtown through retail promotional activity and special events utilizing the downtown as a stage area of community activities.
